FAIRSHARE UNITY ROOTS SOUND SYSTEM 7 FAIRSHARE UNITY SOUND SYSTEM
The Profound Fairshare Unity Sound System started back in 1984, starting out with using normal basic stereo amplifiers and 12" speakers for bass. Julian moved on to 15" and 18" speakers within the year by borrowing his dad's equipment! His dad, Edly, had a sound system called Hummingbird which was around in the 50s and 60s. Julian has taken the sound system to such places as the USA, Canada, Russia (incidentally, Julian was the first roots reggae DJ to play in the USSR, courtesy of the Speedy Angels from France), Belgium, Germany, Austria, Finland, Poland, Lithuania, France, Switzerland, Italy and Holland. In addition, The Sound System has played at numerous venues in the UK such as London, Concorde 2 in Brighton, Norwich Arts Centre, Brixton Academy, Town & Country Forum (now known as The Forum), Komedia Theatre in Brighton, Cabana Club in Bedford, The Vox in Old Street, London, The Arches in Vauxhall, London, The Blue Note at Hoxton Square in London, the African Arts Centre in Covent Garden, London, Study of African & Oriental Studies in Russell Square, London, Madcap in Milton Keynes, Talking Heads in Southampton, the Limpopo Club (aka The African Arts Centre) and the Colchester Arts Centre, to name but a few. Unruly Julian, as he is known, has played to a wide variety of audiences such as charities, private appointments, radio and commercial, as well as appearing alongside artists such as Prince Allah, African Headcharge, Big Youth, Maxi Jazz from Faithless, Jah Warrior, Jonah Dan, Disciples, Daddae Harvey from Soul II Soul, Yellow Man, Jah Shaka, Tipper Ire, Benjamin Zephaniah, Bobby Melody, Blakamix, King Earthquake, Jah Tubbys, Foundation Sound, Morgan's Heritage, Manaseh, Dub Wise Production, Kitachi, Sistas, the boxing champion Nigel Benn, RDK Hi Fi, Freedom Masses and Urban Dub
