                 The Emperor's Sound

 The reality of the Conqueror Sound system started many years ago. In the fifties and sixties a Jamaican family moved to west London. As their house had a big room it became a little social centre for many of the local Jamaicans. When two or three gather together they want music. As the evening took hold none of the big people wanted to run the music so they set the families third son to play the music. Now you know how it is, it is not just throwing on a record, he had to select intelligently, proper music had to follow proper music, if he made a wrong selection they let him know. Mr Olston Wiltshire was the veteran of thousands of Friday and Saturday nights, selecting music for his parents and their friends. Well Olston had a son and in this time 30 years of musical experience and obsession have produced the Conqueror Sound. A struggling grass roots unification sound. Marcus, Olston's son, shows he's a second generation sound man, its rare almost never seen to find a young sound youth who understands the full range and power of his musical heritage, who can select masterfully and so confidently in any style. This is not a big money movement, every house dance bought wire and every hired hall or pub back room, bought equipment. On the weekend you don't see Marcus buying trainers or Tommy Hilfigure garments its all screws and glue and wood for making bins and amplification speakers, just as it is meant to be done. The Conqueror is a living branch of the great tree of Jamaican Sound systems. There is no weakness in the youth when he plays his sound, it is his sound. Without weakness from his elder - the musical tunes played come from the heart, not from the belly and all pains are taken to advance the standard of his sound system. Inspired by mighty London sounds like Word Sound Power and Jah Shaka not forgetting the awesome Aba-Shanti I, the millennium sound. Marcus the Conqueror Sound system is truly a unification sound, bringing together all elements of musical roots, reggae, soul and R&B, classics you thought you'd never hear again. The Conqueror sound has music, to what you haven't heard yet. Marcus is now the UK Jah Works Promotion Dub Cup holder for the year 1999. Sustaining and winning the Midland Unification Dub Cup in 1999 shows he has no mercy when offering his spiritual message. He battled thru four rounds in the competition beating the 1997 and 1998 cup winners. Marcus the Conqueror entertains everyone from cultural background, creed and colour.........
